Our Story
In the heart of Namakkal, Tamil Nadu, a small brand set out to make natural, sustainable living simple and everyday. Macoo Lifestyle was founded in February 2019 by Aswin Subramani and co-founder Ravindaran Ramakrishnan, built on one belief: the way we live should be kind to us and kind to the earth.
Where it all began
Every great story begins somewhere quiet. Ours began at a school in Kotagiri, where nature was never far away, just beyond the classroom window. It was there that Aswin met Ravindaran, two schoolmates who had no idea their friendship would one day become a brand. They grew up studying and living close to the natural world, and without either of them realizing it, those years were quietly shaping what they would build together.
That closeness left a mark. As a child, Aswin loved visiting a small local store full of natural products: handmade soaps, scented candles, things that showed how beautiful nature can be when it is brought into everyday life. Somewhere in those visits, a thought took root and never left: one day, I will build a brand like this.
During school holidays, he learned a different kind of lesson. His father ran a local grocery store, and Aswin spent his holidays there, watching how his father spoke to customers and joining in to explain the products on the shelves. Without knowing it, he was learning the quiet art of listening, explaining honestly and earning trust, one customer at a time.
And at home, a habit was growing. Aswin rarely threw anything away. A jar, a box, an old piece of something was never just waste to him, but a thing waiting for a second life. This childhood love of upcycling would become the root of Macoo’s belief in reducing, reusing and respecting what we have.
Years later, with his school friend beside him, he built the brand he had imagined since childhood.

What’s in a name 
Macoo blends Tamil and English. It comes from the Tamil word “Makkum” (மக்கும்), meaning biodegradable or compostable. The name is our promise in one word: everyday products that serve you well and return gently to the earth.

Our range brings together time-tested ways of living and the needs of today’s homes. From skin care and body care to bamboo toothbrushes, neem combs and kitchen utensils, every product is a small, natural swap for something you already use. Flower tea is coming soon.
